Our History
The Center for Islam and Cultural Awareness was founded October 7th, 1992. With a small group of Muslims who prior to getting the current facility would meet in homes, parks or wherever they could meet to worship, to have Jumu'ah prayer, Taalim, and socialize amongst one another. The Center for Islam and Cultural Awareness sees itself establishing Islam and clearly communicating to the public the beauty of its faith, values, traditions, and philosophy. The Center is made up of people from different ethnic backgrounds, but a large number of participants are of the African American heritage. The Center's goals are to provide a wholesome and enriching learning environment for people who are interested in learning and practicing the faith of Islam. The Center values the importance of nurturing and educating Children and Adults in Quranic Arabic, The History of Islam, and how Islam applies to everyday life and everyday living.
The Center seeks to work collaboratively with the community in bringing about socio-cultural, educational, development for all humanity. As Muslims we strive to be good neighbors to all residents of Southwest Florida.
